Our Commitment

Social, Economic & Environmental Impact

Metalmorphic Laser is a Sunshine Coast–based manufacturing partner committed to strengthening our local community, creating skilled local jobs and reducing our environmental footprint. As a growing small business, we see every project as an opportunity to create positive social, economic and environmental outcomes for the region.

Our Social & Economic Contribution

  • We employ and train local people in our Kunda Park workshop, creating skilled jobs in advanced manufacturing on the Sunshine Coast. Our team includes apprentices, and we are committed to upskilling the next generation through structured on-the-job learning and mentoring.

We also support school-based work experience placements. We have hosted students from Chancellor State College and, where there has been a strong fit, offered ongoing employment following the completion of their placement. This helps young people transition from school into meaningful local employment and exposes them to real-world opportunities in manufacturing and engineering.

  • We actively engage with local schools to promote careers in manufacturing, engineering and trades. We have attended Sunshine Coast Grammar School to present to a business class about who Metalmorphic Laser is, what we do, and the broader opportunities in the industry. Feedback from students has been very positive, and we see these engagements as an important way to inspire future tradespeople, designers and business owners.

  • Outside of work, our team are die-hard wakeboarders. We proudly sponsor Bli Bli Wake Park, a much-loved local business and community hub. This sponsorship reflects our genuine connection to the Sunshine Coast lifestyle and our desire to support local organisations that bring people together and promote healthy, active living.

  • Metalmorphic Laser is deeply embedded in the Sunshine Coast manufacturing and business community. We collaborate with local businesses to:

    • Shorten supply chains and reduce freight and transport requirements

    • Improve project lead times and reliability

    • Keep more economic activity and jobs within the region

We are active members of local business and manufacturing groups, including the Manufacturing Excellence Forum. These networks enable us to share knowledge, strengthen local capability, and position the Sunshine Coast as a growing manufacturing hub.

  • Wherever commercially feasible, we prioritise sourcing from Sunshine Coast and Queensland suppliers. Keeping our supply chain local reduces freight, shortens lead times and keeps more jobs and economic activity in the region.

We maintain long-term relationships with local fabricators, powder coaters, machinists and other specialist trades. We are committed to paying our suppliers on time, recognising that healthy cash flow is critical for small and medium businesses in our community.

  • We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing a workplace that is inclusive, respectful and free from discrimination, bullying and harassment. Recruitment and promotions are based on skills, attitude and merit.

Metalmorphic Laser complies with all Fair Work and award obligations, ensuring our team is paid correctly and on time. Where possible, we support flexible working arrangements that enable our people to manage work, family and life commitments.

  • It has been an honour to be recognised by the local community as a finalist in the Sunshine Coast Business Awards in the Manufacturing category in both 2023 and 2024. We are especially proud that some of the awards’ winners over the years have worked with us, or are ongoing customers. Knowing that we play a part in their success – and in the goods and services they provide to the community – reinforces our commitment to quality, reliability and long-term partnerships.

Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing

Metalmorphic Laser is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our team, visitors and contractors. We comply with relevant workplace health and safety legislation and maintain clear procedures for hazard identification, risk assessment and incident reporting.

All employees and apprentices receive appropriate inductions, job-specific training and personal protective equipment. Toolbox talks and informal check-ins are used to reinforce safe work practices and to encourage open communication about both physical safety and mental wellbeing.

Our Environmental Responsibility

  • Metalmorphic Laser is committed to operating responsibly and continuously improving our environmental performance. As a manufacturing business, we recognise our responsibility to minimise waste, energy use and emissions wherever possible.

  • We constantly review and refine our manufacturing processes to reduce environmental impact. This includes:

    • Optimising nesting and cutting programs to minimise offcuts and scrap

    • Improving the execution of cutting processes to reduce rework and waste

    • Exploring more efficient options for powering and running equipment where feasible

Process optimisation and technology improvements are always front-of-mind in our day-to-day operation

  • Our team uses its technical expertise to help clients reduce their own environmental impact. This may include:

    • Suggesting design changes that minimise material use and waste

    • Recommending more environmentally responsible materials that still meet performance and quality requirements

    • Demonstrating how changes to manufacturing processes can be both good for the environment and good for business

We see this as a win–win: projects that are smarter, more efficient and more sustainable over their life cycle.

  • We are conscious of waste in our operations and strive to maximise recycling as a standard part of our processes. Wherever practical, scrap metal and other recyclable materials are segregated and sent for recycling rather than landfill. Our team is encouraged to identify and act on opportunities to:

    • Reduce single-use packaging and consumables

    • Improve material handling to avoid damage and rework

    • Capture and recycle as much material as possible

  • In addition to process optimisation and recycling, we are working towards measurable environmental improvements. We aim to maximise the proportion of scrap metal sent for recycling and to continually improve material utilisation through better nesting and programming. As we grow, we will continue to review our energy use, equipment efficiency and waste streams to identify practical opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint without compromising quality or safety.

Ethical Sourcing & Modern Slavery

Metalmorphic Laser supports ethical and lawful business practices. While we are a small business, we are aware of the potential for modern slavery risks in global supply chains. We expect our key suppliers to comply with applicable labour, health and safety and human rights laws.

If concerns are raised about unethical practices in our supply chain, we will investigate and, where appropriate, review or terminate supplier relationships.

Governance, Measurement & Continuous Improvement

Metalmorphic Laser operates with documented procedures covering safety, quality, apprenticeships, client communication and environmental practices. These are reviewed periodically to reflect changes in legislation, industry standards and lessons learned from completed projects.

We welcome feedback from clients, suppliers and team members and use it to continuously refine our processes. Our recognition as a Sunshine Coast Business Awards finalist in 2023 and 2024 reflects both our operational discipline and our ongoing commitment to improvement.

Each year we aim to track key indicators such as:

  • The number of apprentices and work experience students supported

  • The proportion of our spend with local suppliers

  • The volume of scrap metal recycled

This helps us stay accountable and identify new opportunities to increase our positive impact.

By embedding these principles into how we work, Metalmorphic Laser aims to deliver not only high-quality manufacturing outcomes, but also measurable benefits for our community, local economy and environment.
